So after a 14-hour shift, I got confirmation about my place in the 84km ultra marathon in May.

Now I'm wondering how I can set time aside to train for it. Call me crazy, but that's already a given lah.
I'll die trying anyway I guess.

Following the Standard Chartered marathon (which I did abysmally; more on that in another post), I now present the following:

So anyone in for the 84km? I definitely need a training partner for this one.

The next time I decide to step into a store that has a wide collection of DVDs, especially if they are on sale, stop me.

The damage today is about $70 on 4 titles. Add that to $150 worth of DVDs in Hong Kong, and that leads to a very poor me, but 9 more titles to my collection.

I need more willpower when it comes to DVDs I swear.

Rest in Peace Ah Wee

I'm in Hong Kong now, but part of me wished I could have been back home to send a friend on his final journey. From what I hear, he received a grand military funeral and he deserved it, not so much because he was a soldier, but because he gave himself to his professional, and trained and motivated every RT trainee in Maju Camp.

I never spoke much with him after ORD-ing, but I will miss seeing him at running events, or his goofy smile whenever we meet up for outings. But for now, at least I know he is in a better place and that there are so many out there, brothers and NSmen alike, that will remember his life and his sacrifices.

Thank you Ah Wee and rest in peace.

I know this is late, but I only had the time to do this now.

HOORAY FOR THE SPRINGBOKS! At least a dirty, try scoring team won compared to a bunch of pansies that only can kick . The honour and integrity of the game is restored indeed.

Now that  the RWC is over, I need my rugby fix. *sigh*. Damn you EPL.

Flight to Hong Kong in 6 hours. Whee!

We were never really close, but we were in the same camp, and as cliched as it might sound, we were all brothers in one way or another, having suffer the same grueling physical training to be a PTI. I remember how laid back he was; always taking his time during the army half marathon team training sessions while I kept encouraging him to go faster. On race day he'd surprise all of us by doing even better than expected. That was how he was like, laid back, carefree and optimistic, always optimistic. He probably was our unknowing clown, bringing that smile across your face when shit hit the fan, and somehow just reminded you not to take things too seriously.

But when God calls you home, you have to go. And even though we were never close, it just feels like it's a life wasted. Not in the sense that he never achieved anything, but because he was still young and in his everyday living, taught us how to be cheerful as well. I just hope he is in a better place now, and that we never forget his child-like optimism and outlook that reminded me at least, how to live everyday with hope.

Rest in Peace Ah Wee. Soldier, Son,  Team-mate, Brother.

There is something refreshing and calming, about walking along the silent road with the drizzling rain falling softly on your head, after a 24hour shift in the office.

Posting on behalf of [info]lolitapop

My friend just got involved in an accident and her dogs rushed out of the car during the confusion. Her maltese has been found, but her golden retriever is still lost. The accident took place around Robinson Road, near Lau Pa Sat, and that was also where the dog was last seen. She responds to the name Chloe.

Please help to look out for her and spread the word. Her owner is heartbroken and despite being injured, is definitely more worried about her missing dog.

MISSING DOG: Chloe
LAST SEEN: ROBINSON ROAD, NEAR LAU PA SAT

Somehow or rather, it feels as if I've been on this road before.

And it has never been a smooth ride, nor one with good results.

I'd like to think it be different this time round, but I guess cynicism has pretty much buried itself deep.

I suddenly feel lost with this sense of power. It's like I'm a kid, and I've been given a key that unlocks doors to every toy and candy store there is.

In the spririt of mothers' day, I gave a mother a nice present - A one way trip to cockroach heaven.

(I came into my suite to find two cockroaches (one large and another small) scampering on the floor. A struggle ensued following the couch being tossed and the murder weapon of a roll up newspaper, lighter and Baygon, I sent them away to a more peaceful place.)

Yes I am sadistic I know. =]

Lady: Excuse me, do you know how I can get to ....
Me: I'm sorry I really don't know.

*Lady pesters me again. I reply with the same answer.)

Throughout the Q&A, I was desperately trying to seek shelter from the rain while she had an umbrella. (Yes, the lost lady decided to ask someone with no umbrella in the rain how to get somewhere.)

I'm sold that there are full of unbelievably stupid people in the world.

Going in for a tackle while playing football, getting swept off the ground when your opponent entangles with you and brings you to the ground, and then landing on the astro turf on your tail bone, feeling the hardness of the concrete beneath, is not funny.

My legs feel damn weak; I don't know if it's from the soccer or from the landing on my tail bone. Please recover soon so that I can carry on running ...

It takes me 5 minutes to load Command and Conquer 3 on my computer, and when it shows the game videos (Grace Park is so hot), the audio sync is off by like 15 seconds!

I really need to upgrade my computer. It's been with me for almost 4 years now. The question is: Mac or PC. I hardly game, and mainly work on my terminals. However, there are the occasional games that I just have to play. Then you can now load windows onto a mac (yes you mac puritans - If I get a mac I'm gonna install Windows as well. My terminal, my rules.)

And of course there is the more important question of me striking 4D. *sigh*.

My friend sms-es me at 7:25pm.

"I got an extra ticket to Yo La Tengo at 7:30 later. You wanna go?"

It's bloody box office seating! And I'm sick too! ARGH!

I hate being sick. At least there is Rachel Yamagata on Saturday.
